SalesCloser adds WhatsApp: carrying a sales conversation through human handoff

A new channel can answer an inquiry sooner. Whether the conversation progresses also depends on its information, the person taking over and the next action.

SalesCloser announced WhatsApp as a native channel for its AI sales agents on October 27. The release describes a specific handoff: when a customer asks for a person, the agent pauses and emails the team with a reason and a conversation link. A representative can continue the same thread through the dashboard’s Chats tab while the AI remains silent. The company says the channel is live and activated at customers’ request.

That gives a new-channel announcement a concrete business object: the customer’s current request, and the person who will carry it forward. Measuring only the first reply misses the subsequent wait. A product can route a message; the business still needs someone to read it, authority to answer and a reasonable expectation for the next response.

Matching automatic replies to the inquiry

SalesCloser’s product page defines its current text service. It replies to incoming messages using the agent’s prompt and knowledge base, and handles text rather than photos, voice notes, documents or locations. It says replies operate within 24 hours of the lead’s last message, without outbound text campaigns or text follow-up after that window. Those are the stated limits of this product, not a description of every WhatsApp business service.

The limits affect how a business presents the contact point. If customers normally explain a request with a voice note or a photograph, the team needs guidance on supported messages and another way to receive the material. Questions about documented services, opening hours or basic conditions are a clearer starting point for automatic replies. Requests requiring an attachment or a specific decision need a destination.

Consider a hypothetical hotel meeting-room inquiry. The customer first asks about capacity, then supplies a date and requests a quote including catering. Confirmed venue information can answer the capacity question. Availability on that date, a special setup and the offered price require corresponding business information or human confirmation. Answering the opening question leaves part of the inquiry unresolved.

The knowledge therefore needs to distinguish stable information from matters requiring a current check. Service descriptions can be versioned; availability, exceptional pricing and temporary arrangements can change. Automatic replies should reflect the evidence available. Where information is missing, collecting the requirement and identifying what remains to be confirmed gives both the customer and the receiving representative useful material.

After the team receives a notification

SalesCloser describes a sequence of pausing, notifying, human replying and handing the thread back. It also says that, if nobody takes over in time, the agent resumes and tells the customer the team will follow up. An evaluation needs to examine both routes: a representative responds, or no representative responds. An email being sent and a person beginning the work are different states.

For the meeting-room inquiry, the representative should see the supplied date, attendance, services requested, what the AI already answered and the outstanding price and availability questions. A generic follow-up notification requires the person to reconstruct the conversation. A summary that turns an inference into a confirmed fact can create a pricing error. A useful summary points to the original statements and keeps unresolved matters explicit.

Routing also has to fit the actual team. The person handling event business during the day may not cover the evening. Reception may explain routine arrangements while a different person approves price exceptions. Decide who receives the request and how it reaches the authorized colleague, rather than treat a shared mailbox as completed allocation. Low-volume inquiries may suit a named owner; higher volumes can justify queues and defined coverage.

Mokyun can help prepare the material between an inquiry and its follow-up: organize requirements from an authorized conversation, use business service information to prepare response or quotation material, and direct unresolved questions to the appropriate person. Sales follow-up and information preparation are part of its published positioning. Number integration, conversation access, availability or price queries, and permission to update customer records need adaptation and validation for the actual system and version.

The value should appear in the representative’s ability to continue. For the hypothetical inquiry, examine whether the customer must repeat information already supplied, whether the required date and service combination are immediately visible, and whether the quote has supporting information. An unconfirmed intention should remain unconfirmed; a completed handoff is not sufficient grounds to mark a booking as agreed.

Planning the channel change

The SalesCloser page also specifies one AI agent per WhatsApp number, required business-account verification and number registration, and an arrangement in which that number cannot simultaneously remain in the phone-based WhatsApp Business app. Leads are matched by phone number. A business should consider these changes alongside its existing working practices, before replacing a contact point that staff already use successfully.

A phone number can locate a conversation, but the current contact, organization and request still need confirmation. A shared reception number may represent several people, and one thread may introduce a different request. The representative needs to identify the current matter. An existing lead record supplies background rather than replacing confirmation of this inquiry.

The product’s stated 24-hour text-reply window also affects coverage and open work. A team should not assume its unanswered messages will continue to receive automatic follow-up indefinitely. Requests awaiting human checks need routing to times when the team can actually handle them, with an appropriate expectation given to the customer. Another contact channel needs the relevant permission and agreement.

Operating costs include service-information updates, number and account administration, human coverage and review of unfinished conversations. Where inquiry volume is low and people already respond promptly, another system may offer little value. Repeated questions, regular out-of-hours demand and people available for requests requiring judgment create a clearer role. Adoption can begin with one well-documented class of text inquiry, without moving every number and service at once.
